My quest to Become A Legend

I'm just starting this thread to chronicle my quest to 'Become A Legend' in PES 2009.

I want to be an attack midfielder as I think that will get me involved in the action more than just being a striker or a winger. After my initial match I got three offers - West Ham, Spurs and Hull. I choose Hull thinking it would be easier to get into the first team.

I spent about 8 weeks playing against the first team in training. Then in my 9th match I scored my first goal in the 89th minute. I got fouled near the penalty area and took a quick free-kick. I played the ball to the edge of the box and it was returned to me by Barmby. I hit it low first-time and it flew into the bottom right corner of the goal. I was called up to the 'A' training team. After a couple of games there I was put on the bench.

During my first match on the bench I came on for the last 15 minutes. Not a lot of time to make an impression. In my second game I started the second half and did pretty well. I then went through a period of about 5 or 6 games playing the entire second half. However, lately I'm being left on the bench for the whole game. In the last 4 games I've only played about 20 minutes in total. It is pretty frustrating as you don't get to improve much sitting on the bench.

I was playing more of this mode today and I finally made the starting line-up. I started three matches in a row and the team didn't lose any of these matches. In my second start I hit the crossbar with a great shot from 20 yards or so.

Unfortunately, I picked up my second yellow card of the season in my third game and I got suspended for a week. I never made it back into the line-up for the final three games of the season. I did make a couple of substitute appearances but didn't do much. During the close season I signed for N.E.C. Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie. Mainly because they offered to play me as an attacking midfielder whereas everyone else just offered my central midfield. Now I just have to force my way back into the starting line-up.

Below is a video of my first goal - my ticket to the Hull first-team.

You have twenty 18 seasons I think. You start at 17 and retire at 35.

Hull did't release me. I was there on a 1 year contract. They did offer me improved terms but I turned them down. Actually they were offering me the most money but I chose N.E.C. because there contract offer stated that I could play as an attacking midfielder. Hull were playing me as a central midfielder.

Turns out N.E.C. aren't exactly keeping their word. The last game I played was as a defensive midfielder! Still, my player is still pretty rubbish so I can't complain too much.

Go to the board with your contract and demand you play as an attacking midfielder!!!

I've played a good few matches tonight for N.E.C. Nijmegen and done pretty well. I've established myself in the first-team now after four training matches. I scored a good header in a training match that gave me my chance in the first-team. Thankfully the club is actually playing me as an AMF, which is what I wanted.

It is a struggle though as my player still has such lowly stats. I now find myself starting about every two in three games and I'm happy with that.

First goal
In my last match I scored my first goal in the the first-team. It was a sweet right footed volley that went into the far left hand corner of the goal. I played a through ball up the line for the winger and I carried on running into the box. He crossed it in and I met it full on the volley. A really nice goal, especially for my first. I will probably upload it tomorrow. The match ended 1-1.

The annoying thing is that I've been dropped for the following match.

Third season

Tonight I finished playing my second full season. I finished the season pretty strongly with a near enough guaranteed place in the first XI and I put in some good performances. I got a Man of the Match award in a game where I scored one and got two assists. I was pretty proud of that performance.

I am starting to notice some improvements in my player, notably pace and passing. It is now far less frustrating to play as I can now keep possession a little easier than I could before. I did want to move clubs at the end of the season to a better team where I hoped that I would get better support from my teammates. However, I didn't get any offers from a better team so I'm staying with N.E.C. Nijmegen. If it were real life I wouldn't have expected any offers for my services anyway.

I finished the season top of the assists chart for my team - a grand total of three. And finshed with two goals.

I want to improve on that in season three and win a decent move.
