Wipeout HD

Thought I'd start a proper thread for this game. I'm quite looking forward to it now. It wasn't really on my radar when I bought the PS3 but now it is. Seeing the videos and reading what is in the game it sounds great, plus I loved the first few on the PSOne and the PS2.

It is being released as a PSN exclusive downloadable title very soon. The rumour is the 25th September. The review code was issued today to critics and reading on other forums the word is pretty good.

The rumours have turned out to be true. Wipeout HD is launching on September 25th. I'll be getting it day one for sure.

Anyone else?

Meh, F-Zero is better than Wipeout IMO.

I heard it was the Zone mode that failed the tests. It has been changed slightly in the release version. It is still coming on the 25th though.

With the excitement of getting the Little Big Planet Beta I had forgotten that Wipeout HD is out tomorrow. There is a new developers blog HERE.

We've played the review code to death that Sony passed along a while ago but we've now got WipEout HD installed on our PS3s at home via PSN.

One thing we noticed though was a very serious health warning that you confirm you've read by pressing 'X' on the pad:

"Always play in a well lit environment. Take regular breaks, 15 minutes every hour. Discontinue playing if you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue or have a headache.

"Some individuals are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns, may have an undetected epileptic condition man may experience epileptic seizures when watching television or playing videogames.

"Consult your doctor before playing videogames if you have an epileptic condition and immediately should you experience any of the following symptoms whilst playing; altered vision, muscle twitching, other involuntary movement, loss of awareness, confusion and / or convulsions."

Now that's a serious warning not to even think about playing WipEout HD if you feel in any way ill as you're propelled around a rollacoaster track in a hovering craft at speeds the RAC haven't thought of yet.

We all know most (if not all) games carry health warnings and advice on taking regular breaks but we've never come across one as serious and doctor-like as this one.

It makes us more wary to say the least, what about you? Anyway, we're off to play some more. Wish us luck!

I was just going to post something about those warnings myself. I'll be downloading it when I get home later. Hopefully a seizure won't directly follow.
