| Vantage Point I saw Vantage Point last night and I am very disappointed with it. I'm not saying that it is a terrible film but it certainly didn't live up to its potential. The idea of seeing an event from several different view points is a good one but I don't think they implemented it very well. I felt they could have been more subtle about it but instead it came off as a bit silly. At one point it started over again and everyone in the cinema just started laughing. Not the response you want. Also some character's motivations are never explained which is annoying me. Also I'm a big fan of Dennis Quaid and he is hardly in it. When the film does get going and it all ties together it is quite exciting. Shame it takes so long to get going as you soon tire of covering old ground again and again. A TV show like Boomtown had the same gimmick but it worked it very well. |

| I've not seen it but IMO if you are going to do this, you need to limit yourself to 3 characters for the different points of view. Otherwise as you said, you bore the audience. With more than 3 characters, you end up with a really long movie (boring if its covering the same story) and a really short story as you don't have the time to have a long story as you would if you had one character for example. I think its a really bad way to make a movie and in most movies, its not required. You should only ever consider this if you have 3 fantastic, charismatic characters that each deserve to have the story told from their point of view. Sounds like that they just did it for the sake of it in this movie and not because they had any reason to. |

Yeah the cinema was moaning and groaning after the 4th "vantage point". Some aspects of the story are so trite you will get sick. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. |

| Vantage Point - Movie Reviews, Trailers, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes I think the reviews are probably more entertaining than the movie. |

The trailer is very good, as is the concept and if you think it looks good then I say go and see the movie. I guess I wouldn't make a very good critic really. |

You can trust scores out of ten or anything like that in general though. Need to read the reasons someone liked/disliked something and then consider would these things annoy your or would you like them or not be bothered by them. |

| Didn't the film Go with Kathy Holmes do this kind of thing? I'm still interested in seeing it but I might go to In Bruge first! |

Another movie to use it is Courage Under Fire. TV shows have used it quite a bit. An episode of CSI titled Rashomama and for the geeks amongst us Star Trek: TNG episode A Matter of Perspective. One episode of The X-Files that I like very much used this style, the episode Jose Chung's from Outer Space. Each different viewpoint gives a very comic slant to what actually happened. Acutally now that I think about it there was a second X-Files episode in this style but I can't remember the name of the episode. I do remember it featured Luke Wilson as a vampire sheriff. |
