Hello Fellas

Hellllooooo fella's, i've just moved from Australia to Dublin (God only knows why), but i'm looking for some Irish /UK Xbox pals as the connection in Dublin is rubbish - who'd have thought Irelands internet infrastructure would make Australia look progressive.... 1500/256 - Ye Gods!!

Anyway, not sure if this is the right site for me, as i'm generally looking for older gamers - mush as i like playing (having my ass served to me on a plate) with the young people, i tend to find i'm much more competitive playing against people whose reactions have slowed down somewhat.

Do you have any older people (ie over 25) or can you point me in the right direction?

Cheers
mcguis

(pronounced Goose usually)

(Nice site by the way)

Hi Goose (Reminds me of TopGun if I'm not mistaking)

Welcome and welcome to the wonderful world of Irish broadband . With the site you will have a lot more luck than pesky rip-of internet connection .

In anycase we have a lot of older gamers (me included) so you won't feel left out by any chance. We are starting again to have chill out nights (jam sessions) so you'd surely meet a lot of IE/UK gamers.

Any issues please let us know.

Cheers
Easy

Indeed, but it was actually more to do with the fact Aussies couldn't get their head around pronouncing mcguis - so Goose stuck.

Cheers for the welcome Easy. Good to see i am not alone.

(Edit - spelling)

Cheers Jojo .

What does 'old gamers' mean to you lot i wonder ? The site in Oz that i frequented, had some really really old people - such as Pogo, who was the ripe old age of 61.... Top fella.

hiya mcguis, guess I'll just call you goose, welcome to the site. Yes I think you have found the right place to call home.

There are a few elder lemons about this site. Mature gamers is the words that are used by "them". I myself dont fall into that bracket as I'm only a youngster.

Yeah the internet speeds we get here are really poor, there is talk of them improving but so far its. only talk.

Anyway what games are you into, at the minute here it seems to be COD4 and forza 2.

I'm up for anything, the welcome wagon will be along shortly I'm sure. Hope to see you on live.

By the way 25 is verrrrry young

Welcome to the site Goose.

Ireland's broadband is as crap as the government that sold the state owned provider to a Australian company, babcock & brown so all the lines in Ireland are owned by a single provider because the government saw no problem with that somehow (I think they got blinded by the brown envelopes being passed under the table).

Cheers Damo, Wispy, i look forward to finding some people who actually talk whilst they're playing, and i dont mean like the constant babble of 13 year old American kids. To be honest, since COD4 killed Halo i haven't played anything else, i'm rubbish at most games apart from FPS's, though i'm partial to Pacman CE and FUC and Footy games of course.

Brim, if all the lines are owned by one operator....erm, who regulates the market to ensure a fair deal for the ISP's and the consumers ? Where's the incentive for improving the service ?

In Oz people complain all the time because the service lags behind that of the UK and USA - but even so, download speeds of 24Mb are becoming the norm for all the major population areas - but obviously 'major' population areas of Oz, probably covers 10% of the geography and its the rural communities that miss out. So there's no definite progress in prospect for Ireland - crikey!

To verify these "so called claims" I think we should pull out some pics from the Oct ezine (if anyone has an objection of having their picture here let me know I am sure I can morph in a Cow or six or maybe even a fugitive )
