Hmmm, getting a bad feeling about this. I reckon I am nearly 2 Klms from my exchange. Does that mean a faster than my current 3Mb, of which I average 2.5, is unlikely for me cause of my distance from the exchange?

I have had broadband with NTL for the last year and a half and I've never had any problems with it. Its gonna be a pain in the hole once I move back up to monaghan cus their idea of broadband is carrying pigeons

Just a little update. I was onto BT Monday as they are my BB supplier. Their new 8 Mb package is/has nothing to do with the Eircom upgrade.

I was told that people with line rental and the 3 Mb package from BT would be upgraded automatically on the exchanges that are uul enabled.

The time frame for me would be "pretty soon". OR I could cancel my BB and be reconnected in 2-3 weeks on the new 8 Mb package.

They tested my line and said its capable so all I need now is for them to go live. "Pretty soon" is kinda hard to pin down.

looks good for NTL, Ill have very fast speed when they upgrade.

Just as an update, I got an E-mail from BT today saying my telephone line and broadband will be disconnected for approx 30 minutes sometime during the week beginning 10th of March.

No reason was given but judging by the info I was told by customer care a few weeks ago I'm hoping this is the upgrade.

If its just routine maintenance I'll be p1ssed. Heres hoping. 8Mb down and 512 up
