Macbook Air

Now this is the what all laptops should be like. The spec might not be massive but its one sweet looking machine! I dont like the idea of the external drive, but then I dont use a drive that often in a laptop either.

I agree the Macbook Air looks cool. I suppose it should at the price that is being quoted. I can see why the opted to go without an optical drive but it will surely cause hassle for people at some point.

I only got a MacBook a couple of months ago so I'm pretty happy for now.

I'm thinking of getting a MacBook Pro instead of a new PC

I might pick one up in New York if im back there at the end of this year

Cow id say stick with the pc unless your going to be using it for specific stuff.. as good as macs are I find that they are still not for the average home user.

Yeah the drive thing is annoying but i was reading that they allow a drive to be shared from another mac to allow installation and stuff. which is good.

I was hoping for something a bit better. i.e a 12" Macbook pro as I was hoping to upgrade from my 12" powerbook G4. I have to really think whether or not to get this now. The 13.3 " widescreen is still fairly big for an ultra portable laptop.

It looks cool but it lacks basic features that are required in a laptop and you can't change the battery easily:

MacBook Air doesn't have a user-replaceable battery - Engadget

Apple making another product that hurts its users at least as much as it hurts them and robs their users wallet while their at it.

What happened to you Apple, you used to be cool!

This is not a good laptop for most people, its a niche product that looks cool and some people will buy it and be very unhappy with it. I know it lacks almost everything I want in a laptop but then I'm more of a desktop replacement laptop user because I don't have space for a desktop and I can take it with me places

It will do those things with ease and the trackpad being like the iphone is pretty cool for rotating pictures etc.
Ill have to think about upgrading. My mother and sister are going over to new york next month so if im getting one ill get them to pick one up.

That trackpad idea will be in other laptops in a couple of months if not already. It can probably be implemented in software.

Well I wouldn't spend 2,500 Eur on a laptop but I'm buying one now for 1,400 Eur and I'm thinking of getting a Vaio which are thin enough and it'll have a Bluray drive in it and a HDMI out connection for my TV. It'll be powerful enough to play some of the recently released games too but I'm not buying it for that because I have a 360. I just want to play HL2 on really high graphics online

I'll post a thread with the models I'm looking at and see what you guys think before I buy. I have my current laptop for almost 4 years now and its getting a bit old.
