A Halo movie would have been crap. So far the only game movie that was any good was Mortal Kombat and thats because you were expecting so little to the story line and expecting it to be so god awful that you couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised that they actually had a script.

Silent Hill wasn't the worst either, just a little boring compared to the games.
