| 360 news. just a brief update from my trawl around the net.. There are of a 'DJ hero' and as these pop up more 'sources' throw in thier 2 cents.. This from 1up.com ''Last weekend, the first alleged details on Activision Blizzard's DJ Hero surfaced, including a few specifics about the turntable controller and a soundtrack that's planned to be made up entirely out of mash-ups (Beyonce vs. Jimi Hendrix or 50 Cent vs. Beastie Boys were cited as two examples). Now a separate -- and similarly anonymous -- source has confirmed with MTV Multiplayer that Activision is indeed making DJ Hero, although the development process hasn't gone without some difficulties. According to the source, the main problem has been with the style of music. While the source says the mash-up songs make for a "really good" game, it has also proven to be a "licensing nightmare." It's easy to understand why, considering each track would be comprised of elements from two different songs, meaning they'd require two separate licenses. According to the source, however, the merger between Activision and Vivendi (owner of Blizzard) has given the development team access to Universal Music Group, which may make matters a little easier. Other than this tidbit about licensing troubles, this new source also corroborated the basic gameplay details first reported by Kotaku. The earlier source said that the controller would resemble a basic DJ deck, with a scratch disc and three buttons above it for sampling. The music would flow from the top-right (or top-left if you're left handed) around the semi-circle of a spinning record down to the bottom-middle of the screen, and players either scratch, press a sample button, or do both in time with neon icons that spin around with the music.'' ........ Slash has coughed up information about a new guitar hero package while talking to Rolling Stone Mag. "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great." although Activision didnt confirm or deny this they do play a half dozen more GH's by 2010. ......... |
